Aetiological spectrum of patients of pleural effusion – An observational study

Background: Pleural effusion is a clinical condition that manifestation of various aetiologies and pathologies. The vary in different geographical areas age groups. goal this study was to evaluate the aetiological spectrum patients with pleural presenting Department TB & Respiratory Medicine. Materials methods: 120 were involved current which detection has been done based on history, physical examination, radiography. fluid aspirated under USG guidance then analyzed for parameters. Results: showed male preponderance (70%). commonest group between 31 40 years (25.83%). Most cases exudative (96%). Tuberculosis most common aetiology (80%). Conclusion: Different may have effusion. prevalent cause our area involving middle preponderance. Keywords: transudate; tuberculosis; exudate; effusion; adenosine deaminase
